Finding that Fall Feeling

Marking the change in seasons with haiku

I have a confession.

Spring is supposed to be a haiku poet’s favorite season. Don’t get me wrong. Spring is great, especially after the long, dark, and dreary winters of the Pacific Northwest. However, here, spring is still pretty wet, and it comes with the start of allergy season.

But fall is all fun and games. Some of the best camping weather in Western Oregon and Southwestern Washington is from late September through mid-October. The wildfires are mostly out, the weather has cooled, and the rain doesn't usually start in earnest until the last week of October.

Plus, we get all of the foliage. Stunning colors as leaves slowly decay before our eyes, tasty apples fresh from the trees, and crisp weather that demands you break out your flannel.

This haiku poet lives for autumn. The season has always been when I do my best work and have my biggest creative breakthroughs.

Here are a handful of haiku comics to get you in the mood for fall.
