Great article. It seems like the only “red flag” was the one the company was displaying by banning side gigs. I feel that employers are buying the portion of my time they are paying for. The rest belongs to me to use how I see fit, including having side gigs, etc.

Of course, this is one of the million reasons I’ve mostly been self-employed in my life.

I understand conflicts of interest, but blanket bans are a sign of an insecure and potentially abusive employment relationship.
