How to Run Your Business Blog into the Ground
What should your business blog about?
Most businesses have a website, and most business owners feel guilty about not knowing what to do with their business blog. They understand that a blog could be an important asset, but they aren’t sure they have the time or talent to make it work.
Many businesses try to blog but end up giving up after a few weeks or months.
I’ve worked with small and medium businesses as a freelance copywriter for seven years. During that time, I’ve noticed businesses of all sizes keep making the same five mistakes with their blog.
The businesses that avoid or correct these mistakes find their blogs consistently generate new leads month after month.
1. Use Blog for Press Releases
Your business blog isn’t your business diary. The blog isn’t about your business. Your blog should be part of a content marketing strategy that helps generate organic traffic from search engines.
Your blog should contain information your target market will find useful and interesting. Prospects don’t care about launch dates, office moves, or changes in your executive team. These may all be interesting to your employees, but your blog isn’t for your employees.
