There’s no doubt about it. I do benefit from white privilege. White privilege may have saved my life. My situation was at its most dire when the police officer thought I wasn’t white.

To me, the important question is what am I doing with my privilege? Am I trying to oppress others to maintain my status in society? Am I ignoring injustice so that I can continue to go about my life? Or, am I trying to do what I can to make our society more equal and more just for everyone?
